He later says he will take whoever cooks the best roast beef and Stu cooks for Joyce.* 1/6/51 1-14: "The Ugly Duckling" One of Stu’s pupils, Mildred, is unhappy and undated. When Joyce is enlisted to help her, she and her friend Gertie start a club to popularize the unglamorous girl. But when she becomes popular she takes over Joyce’s latest boyfriend.* 1/20/51 1-16: "Bugle Sounds" The Erwins have a farewell dinner for Joyce’s boyfriend, who is going to enlist in some branch of the service, but does not know which one is best suited to his talents. Stu and Harry Johnson make a bet that they can persuade Drexel to join the branch of service they were in.* 2/3/51 1-22: "Wedding Bells" Stu thinks Joyce and Drexel are planning to elope, so he gets Willie to help him stop them.* 3/17/51 1-41: "Barbecue" Joyce and Nancy’s parents interfere in order to help their daughters in their feud over Drexel. The Erwins give a barbecue in order to lure the boy to their house.* 7/28/51 2-8: "Jackie Knows All" When Jackie invests in a mind-reading book, and fails to pick up anything except vibrations from family and neighbors, she rigs up a hidden mike to tune into various private lives. Meanwhile, Mr. Parsons is trying to buy some land from Stu. A new airport is to be built there and Stu hatches a plan to get top dollar for the property. James Dean is seen as a teenager.* 12/7/51 2-17: "Premature Engagement" Jackie engineers a phony engagement for her sister Joyce to bolster her popularity.* 2/8/52 (As "Jimmy Clark") 4-8: "Soft Touch" Wrongly believing his prospective son-in-law thinks he is a soft touch, Stu prepares for a weekend visit by making the Erwins appear to be Tobacco Road figures.* 12/8/54 4-9: "The Wedding Bouquet" The wedding bouquet meant for Joyce but caught by Jackie, inspires confessions of love from both of the Erwin sisters. Jackie thinks that the high school coach has a crush one, but he is romancing the pretty algebra teacher.* 12/15/54 4-10: "Lohengrin Blues" The Erwins get ready for Joyce’s wedding. Stu is upset because the mother of the groom, Mrs. Clark, has made an elaborate and costly affair of the simple home wedding which was planned for Joyce, and bankruptcy looms ahead for Stu.* 12/22/54 4-11: "The Honeymooners" June and Stu find that their plans for a second honeymoon conflict with their daughter and her bridegroom’s first one.
